Job Description
The Single-Path ED Coder accurately codes ED facility and professional services in a unified workflow, assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS and E/M levels per CMS, AMA and payer rules. Responsibilities include reviewing provider and nursing documentation, diagnostics, medications, treatments; applying NCCI/CCI edits; initiating physician queries; supporting audits; and meeting productivity and turnaround targets. Requires CPC, CCS, CCS-P or equivalent, 2–3 years ED facility and professional coding, strong ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, ED E/M and critical care knowledge, and familiarity with EHRs (Epic/Cerner/Meditech).
